Writing 1

I found this poem that I wrote a while back and thought it went well with the previous post.

Worked You/Me

You don't want to

get deep

But we're already drowning

I know where this is going

love,

And it's down down down

I try to stay positive

about the situation.

Never let you focus

on the dark sound

all around.

Because you and I are

no different.

We're just as stupid

as the rest of them

Getting involved

Being de-evolved

into the animals

everyone pretends we aren't

Including me.

Maybe you haven't been here before

honey,

but I have.

And I don't know about you

but I hit the floor

pretty hard

every time.

How do you feel when

you don't land on your feet

when you're

beat,

at your own game?

That's my mode,

my soul.

"Is she

tougher than she looks?

Battling crooks,

criminals,

the seedy greedy underbelly?

Or is she

all bark,

with no bite left

at the end of the day?"

You don't want to get

deeper

But you're between the sheets

with me

That's as low as it gets

right now.

And I don't know a goddamn thing

about saving lives

I let you spin

your lies

while I ignore my ties

for a minute

So I can pretend

I have anything

to spare.
